Month 1: January 2021 - First Impressions

From the beginning I loved the environments that the program puts you into. I have stood at the top of the Great Wall of China, been on Mars, in the Dolomites, by the Pyramids... there is seemingly  no end to the variety of great sites that you can work out in. [Later on I would discover that there are a few invented sites as well... those are fun to come upon.]

I was able to get the hang of hitting the orbs with the bats and squatting and lunging into the triangles. My main problem was getting completely out of breath and having my heart rate in the red zone. I couldn't go for too long without being drenched in sweat - something I wasn't used to and didn't really enjoy!

In a burst of thoughtless enthusiasm after the first day of doing L level workouts I decided to try an M. I can even tell you which one it was: Breakout Role "Cult Classics." I picked it because the first song after the warm up was Dick Dale's Miserlou which I thought would be fun. It WASN'T fun. It was like being attacked by a swarm of bees. I flailed, I choked, and I quit. I would not end up going back to M's for a few weeks after that.

I learned that there was an active Facebook community around Supernatural, although I wasn't ready to be that social yet. I also found out that some or all of the coaches are on Facebook and that they will answer you if have a question. The first coach I befriended was Coach "Doc" - Antonio Harrison. I was curious as to whether he actually had a doctorate (he does.) We became Facebook friends, followed by the two female coaches: Leanne Pedante and Dwana Olsen.

Let me be clear... I originally was not happy with the idea of coaches. I didn't see what value they would add. I thought they would become annoying. I was all wrong. I didn't realize that much of coaching is encouragement, and these folks really know how to encourage. They somehow encouraged me to work out every day in January.
